Travel Baseball

The travel teams are made up of BWAA kids from each age division (10U through Colt) and these teams compete against the travel teams of other local communities.  These games will be in addition to the regular in-house games and travel games typically take place on Sundays.  The travel team season coincides with the spring season and typically at the end of the season, there is a championship tournament that takes place to determine first and second place team in the league.

All-Star Teams

All-Star teams will be formed for age divisions 8U and up and these teams will complete in local area all-star tournaments during the month of July.  Typically, each team competes in 3 different tournaments and the tournaments are selected by the head coach of each division.  The players on the All-Star teams are selected based on their performance during the spring season.

Citi Sports

BWAA's 12U team has been invited to play in the Mayor's Cup tournament this spring sponsored by the Citi Sports league.  This tournament is a single elimination tournament and the championship game is traditionally held at a major sporting venue.  In 2018 the Mayor's Cup championship game was held at PNC Park.  Each team that wins brings home the Mayor's Cup (like NFL's Stanley Cup) to their community.

BWAA's Pony and Colt teams will participate in the Citi Sports league during the spring season and compete against other Citi Sports baseball teams.  Like the 12U team, these teams will also compete in the Mayor's Cup tournament, with a chance to bring the Mayor's Cup to BWAA for their respective age divisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will these opportunities cost the parents?

BWAA funds the tournament entry fees and uniform costs for all opportunities but does require that parents participate in fundraising events such as selling extra raffle tickets, going to Night at the Races event, etc. during the season.

How are the players selected for these teams?

These teams are selected based on player performance and are evaluated by the head and assistant coaches for their respective age division.

Will there be different uniforms from what is worn for the in-house league?

Yes, the travel and tournament teams will have a second set of uniforms in addition to their in-house shirts.

Will there be extra practices if my child is selected on these teams?

Yes.  Since these teams will be more competitive than the regular in-house league, these teams will also have separate practices in addition to their in-house team practices.  In order for BWAA to be successful in these different opportunities, we do ask for committed and dedicated players and families.
